Anne of Green Gables is sweet, innocent, and just happy. Follow Anne Shirley, a red-headed orphan, on her journey from a loveless childhood to the joy of being adopted by brother and sister Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. Thriving in her new life at Green Gables, Anne meets her ‘bosom friend' Diana Barry, and they have many adventures together throughout their girlhood years. Get acquainted with the dear folks of Avonlea, including the nosy but kind-hearted Mrs. Lind, Anne's school chums and rivals, and Gilbert Blythe, who is immediately enamored with Anne but who she sees only as a friend.

Growing up, Anne learns to behave like a young lady, plan for her future, and control her temper- more or less. Most importantly, she learns at last what it is to have a home, and to be loved.
Anne of Green Gables, The Sequel follows Anne to Kingsport, where she works as a school teacher at a ladies' college. She immediately finds herself snubbed and socially excluded by the largest local family, the Pringles, who had wanted one of their own to have the teacher position and resent Ms. Shirley for getting it instead. Furthermore, Anne must deal with her unruly students, most of whom are Pringles, and tolerate a colleague, Katherine Brooke, who is ‘all prickles and stings.'
The Anne of Green Gables series has always been an immensely well liked series, not only in the book form, but in film versions as well. It has been made into movie adaptions, television series, and even stage productions. The undisputed and most famous adaption is the Canadian television miniseries that first debuted in 1985.
The determined Anne endures, eventually winning over the Pringle clan and even getting through to the cold Ms. Brooke, though not without getting into plenty of scrapes along the way. She finds herself becoming involved with a gentleman who is all she could ask for in a potential husband; and when he proposes, she can't understand why Gilbert Blythe comes to mind.
The third and final installment, Anne of Green Gables, The Continuing Story, is much more grim. Anne finds herself traversing war-torn Europe in search of her fiance, Gilbert, who was lending medical aid and has gone missing. Her friend Diana Barry is since married with children, and her husband Fred also seems to have gotten lost in the fray.

Diana stays behind to tend to the children while Anne promises to search for Fred as she seeks to discover what has happened to Gilbert. Along her travels, Anne finds herself responsible for the well-being of a little boy whose mother is killed in the fighting. She now must find food for the child, try to keep him quiet when the enemy is near, and somehow contrive to get him to safety so she can continue her search for her loved ones.
I have watched these movies since I was a kid, and I will always adore them. Sometimes I just watch the first two, as they are more lighthearted and happy. But be forewarned! These movies, as excellent as they are, are an outrageous deviation from the original storyline of the Anne of Green Gables books. Many characters from the books are completely left out, while other new ones are invented. Many of the book characters are combined for the movie characters (the name of one given to the story line of another, etc.), and where Anne and Gilbert Blythe become engaged very early in the books, in the films this doesn't take place until much later.
I will repeat here my theory on book/movie combos, because this is probably the best example of it. If you want a chance at liking the movie, watch it first. This will allow you to fall in love with the characters and appreciate the film. Then read the books. Because if you read and then watch, all you will do is critique, and you'll never enjoy the movies in the same way.

Plot[edit]
Anne Shirley is an orphan who has been adopted by farmer Matthew Cuthbert (O.P. Heggie) and his sister, Marilla (Helen Westley). Although the pair were expecting a young boy to help on their farm, Anne endears herself to them and to the local villagers. She befriends Diana Barry and most of the children at her school except for Gilbert Blythe after he calls her 'carrots' and she smashes her slate over his head. She and Diana have a bet that Anne can flirt with Gilbert, and he will fall head over heels in love with her. Little do they know, Gilbert overheard them and already has fallen in love with her. Anne flirts with him, which becomes unsuccessful, and Diana wins the bet. Anne lies to Gilbert that she has a boyfriend to make him jealous, but she only ends up embarrassing herself.
Shortly after, Anne is playing the Lady of Shalott when she realizes her boat is sinking, and Gilbert sees her and saves her life. She then decides to forgive him and give him a reward for saving her. She will kiss him. Gilbert is surprised. Anne thinks he doesn't want to claim his reward, but he tells her he does and that he wants her to be his girl. For three years they have an affair, but Mrs. Barry spies on them and tells Marilla. Marilla does not want Anne to even talk to Gilbert because his mother broke Matthew's heart. Anne and Gilbert are both devastated, and Matthew is upset with Marilla because it wasn't she who got her heart broken.
Anne goes to college. Diana, who now is married, visits Anne and tells her that Matthew is ill. She returns to Green Gables, finding out it's for sale to save Matthew because he needs the best doctor in Halifax. She remembers Gilbert is studying with this doctor, so she goes to see Gilbert. He tries flirting with her, and she eventually gives in and finds out that Gilbert heard about Matthew and begged the doctor to save him for free, which he did. Civilcad para autocad 2007. After Marilla finds out what he had done, she forgives the Blythes and lets Anne and Gilbert see each other again.
